HARARE, Zimbabwe: I had never been arrested before and the prospect of prison in Zimbabwe, one of the poorest, most repressive places on earth, seemed especially forbidding: the squalor, the teeming cells, the possibility of beatings. But I told myself what I'd repeatedly taught my two children: Life is a collection of experiences. You savor the good, you learn from the bad.

I was being charged with the crime of "committing journalism." One of my captors, Detective Inspector Dani Rangwani, described the offense to me as something despicable, almost hissing the words: "You've been gathering, processing and disseminating the news."

4 Minutes and 57 Second Reflection from 4 April 1968

Ladies and Gentlemen - I'm only going to talk to you just for a minute or so this evening. Because...

I have some very sad news for all of you, and I think sad news for all of our fellow citizens, and people who love peace all over the world, and that is that Martin Luther King was shot and was killed tonight in Memphis, Tennessee.

Martin Luther King dedicated his life to love and to justice between fellow human beings. He died in the cause of that effort. In this difficult day, in this difficult time for the United States, it's perhaps well to ask what kind of a nation we are and what direction we want to move in.

For those of you who are black - considering the evidence evidently is that there were white people who were responsible - you can be filled with bitterness, and with hatred, and a desire for revenge.

We can move in that direction as a country, in greater polarization - black people amongst blacks, and white amongst whites, filled with hatred toward one another. Or we can make an effort, as Martin Luther King did, to understand and to comprehend, and replace that violence, that stain of bloodshed that has spread across our land, with an effort to understand, compassion and love.

For those of you who are black and are tempted to be filled with hatred and mistrust of the injustice of such an act, against all white people, I would only say that I can also feel in my own heart the same kind of feeling. I had a member of my family killed, but he was killed by a white man.

But we have to make an effort in the United States, we have to make an effort to understand, to get beyond these rather difficult times.

My favorite poet was Aeschylus. He once wrote: "Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, until, in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God."

What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.

(Interrupted by applause)

So I ask you tonight to return home, to say a prayer for the family of Martin Luther King, yeah that's true, but more importantly to say a prayer for our own country, which all of us love - a prayer for understanding and that compassion of which I spoke. We can do well in this country. We will have difficult times. We've had difficult times in the past. And we will have difficult times in the future. It is not the end of violence; it is not the end of lawlessness; and it's not the end of disorder.

But the vast majority of white people and the vast majority of black people in this country want to live together, want to improve the quality of our life, and want justice for all human beings that abide in our land.

Let us dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world.

Let us dedicate ourselves to that, and say a prayer for our country and for our people.

Al Gore, eat your heart out, You Are WRONG!

Sunspot activity has not resumed up after hitting an 11-year low in March last year, raising fears that — far from warming — the globe is about to return to an Ice Age, says an Australian-American scientist.

Physicist Phil Chapman, the first native-born Australian to become an astronaut with NASA . . . said the world cooled quickly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7 degrees Centigrade.

"This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record, and it puts us back to where we were in 1930," Chapman wrote in The Australian Wednesday. "If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over."

All those urging action to curb global warming need to take off the blinkers and give some thought to what we should do if we are facing global cooling instead.

It will be difficult for people to face the truth when their reputations, careers, government grants or hopes for social change depend on global warming, but the fate of civilisation may be at stake.

In the famous words of Oliver Cromwell, "I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken."

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (AP) -- A bank teller pregnant with twins was shot in the stomach during a robbery Tuesday morning.

The gunman came into the Huntington Bank branch about 9:30 a.m., jumped over the counter screaming and shot the teller in the lower abdomen.

Birds, Something to Think About

I bought a bird feeder.

I hung
it on my back porch and filled
it with seed.

What a beauty of
a bird feeder it is, as I filled it
lovingly with seed.

Within a
week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the poop.

It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ...
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean.

They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud.

They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore.

So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone.

I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be... quiet, serene
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see.

Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care, and free
education and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands.

Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
your child's 2nd grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
"press one" to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than "Old Glory" are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.

Barack Hussein Obama is an archetypal liberal case study. Obama, William Jefferson Clinton, Albert Arnold Gore, John F. Kerry and, of course, Edward "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy, all share a common ailment -- what I have aptly described in some detail as the Pathology of the Left.

Leftists are uniformly defined by their hypocrisy and dissociation from reality. They speak of unity, but they foment division, appealing to the worst in human nature by separating Americans into dependent constituencies. They support freedom of thought, unless those thoughts don't comport with theirs. They feign tolerance while practicing intolerance. They resist open discussion and debate of their views, yet seek to silence dissenters. They protest for natural order while advocating for homosexuality and abortion. They assert their First Amendment rights, except, of course, when it comes to religion, whence they impose the doctrines of secular atheism on everyone else. They decry SUVs, except those that they own. They advocate mass transit but commute on private jets. They believe trial lawyers save lives and doctors kill people. They believe the solution to racism is to treat people differently on the basis of the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. They deride moral clarity because they can't survive its scrutiny.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder is defined as:
The diagnostic criteria for NPD includes a "pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts," which manifests as "a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements);" "a preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love; and a belief that he or she is 'special' and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)," and the subject "lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others...shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes."

Pope Benedict XVI

Religion is not just a private affair. Religion is about community and being accountable for how we live in community with others.

Think about that.

The Pope explained: "While it is true that this country is marked by a genuinely religious spirit, the subtle influence of secularism can nevertheless color the way people allow their faith to influence their behavior.

"Is it consistent to profess our beliefs in church on Sunday, and then during the week to promote business practices or medical procedures contrary to those beliefs? Is it consistent for practicing Catholics to ignore or exploit the poor and the marginalized, to promote sexual behavior contrary to Catholic moral teaching, or to adopt positions that contradict the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death? Any tendency to treat religion as a private matter must be resisted. Only when their faith permeates every aspect of their lives do Christians become truly open to the transforming power of the Gospel."

"This emphasis on individualism has even affected the Church, giving rise to a form of piety which sometimes emphasizes our private relationship with God at the expense of our calling to be members of a redeemed community," he noted. "If we are truly to gaze upon him who is the source of our joy, we need to do so as members of the people of God. If this seems counter-cultural, that is simply further evidence of the urgent need for a renewed evangelization of culture."

He added: "To some young Catholics, the sacramental bond of marriage seems scarcely distinguishable from a civil bond, or even a purely informal and open-ended arrangement to live with another person. Hence we have an alarming decrease in the number of Catholic marriages in the United States together with an increase in cohabitation, in which the Christ-like mutual self-giving of spouses, sealed by a public promise to live out the demands of an indissoluble lifelong commitment, is simply absent."

Theoretically there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100 per cent of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed. Assuming that development and the achievement of a high per capita income is a benefit to society as a whole I do not see why the government cannot tax those who have more and syphon (sic) some of these revenues into savings which can be utilized in investment for future development, thereby reducing our reliance on foreign aid.

There is a statement made on nationalization. True there are cases in which nationalization is bad, but there are, likewise, quite a few benefits to be derived from it. On this subject, I would like to refer the authors to Prof. Bronferbrenner’s work on the “Appeals for confiscation in Economic Development.”* Nationalization should not be looked at only in terms of profitability alone, but also, or even more, on the benefit to society that such services render and on its importance in terms of public interest. If we were to look at these things purely on profitability, then the railways would not have been nationalized worldwide since it is the least profitable so that in all countries it is subsidized by government. There is also a statement that nationalization will apply to African enterprise. How can we talk of nationalizing African enterprise when such enterprises do not exist. If we are going to nationalize, we are going to nationalize what exists and is worth nationalization. But these are European and Asian enterprises.

(The piece goes on to talk about the disparity between Kenyans and Europeans and Asians, the latter two owning the small shops, large shops, industry, restaurants, automobiles, and that the need in Kenya is to rectify the imbalance.)

Innundated with Politics and Burned Out

Earlier in a post, I think, maybe I just spoke to friends, but I recall saying that the nomination process was too long. What it's done has totally burned me out.

I'm tired of reading about all of Barack Hussein Obama Junior's "fairy tales" about his life. I'm tired of the empty words and lack of substance in what he says. I'm tired of his condescending manners when speaking of us "white folk" as if we weren't listening, reading or watching him speak. I'm tired of his detached attitude. He is definitely Saul Alinsky's and Jeremiah Wright's and his anthropologist mother's and Arab Muslim father's and step-father's child.

I'm tired of reading about all of Hillary Rodham Clinton's exploits and how they make her more qualified to be President than anyone else. I'm tired of her inflating her importance in her speeches. I'm just tired of the Clinton name, we already had it for eight years and that was the maximum anyone should have to put up with them.

HRClinton Takes Umbrage (as well she should)

Hillary Clinton took no quarter Tuesday in responding to a reported claim by Barack Obama that he has more foreign policy experience than either Clinton or Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain.

“I think a lot of people assume that might be some sort of military thing to make me look more commander in chief-like. Ironically, this is an area — foreign policy is the area where I am probably most confident that I know more and understand the world better than Senator Clinton or Senator McCain,” Obama reportedly said.
Senator Clinton also stated that Senator Obama
"failed to have a single policy hearing on the only responsibility he was given, chairing the European and NATO subcommittee on the Foreign Relations Committee."
She also stated that
"he himself admitted he was too busy running for president to pay attention to what we needed to do to improve our chances in Afghanistan and get NATO more involved."


What Barack H Obama meant was that as a young child he lived in Indonesia (where he was registered for school as Barry Soetoro, Indonesian, Muslim) and that he is a member of the Luo (Obama's ancestral) Tribe (all Muslims) in Kenya. That makes him an "expert?" But what he's an expert of is not what he's going to admit to.

Barack Hussein Obama has the empathetic skill set of an anthropologist who lives with his subjects, learns their language, and elicits their hopes and fears while remaining at emotional distance. That is, he is the political equivalent of a sociopath. The difference is that he is practicing not on a primitive tribe but on the population of the United States.

AKARTA, Indonesia — Indonesian Internet companies blocked access to YouTube and MySpace on Tuesday, heeding a government order aimed at stopping people from watching an anti-Islam film by a Dutch lawmaker.

Anti-immigration politician Geert Wilders posted the 15-minute film on the Internet on March 27. It has since been widely available on blogs and file-sharing sites.

Geert Wilders' video is not for the faint of heart. Nor should you allow impressionable children (or adults) to watch it. It's harrowing. It only tells the truth about Islam, quoting the Koran (Quran) Sura before introducing video of that Sura being carried to its fruition.

FITNA is the face of Islam. Not just fundamental, jihadist Islam, but Islam if every word in the Koran is taken at face value. Fortunately, there are some Modern Muslims who are capable of saying "that was then, this is now." Their problem is that if they speak out too loudly, a fatwa will be placed on their heads, as was on Salman Rushdie (who went into hiding and is still alive) and Theo van Gogh (whose arrogance was his demise).

The video is on YouTube in a number of versions, posted by a lot of people (just read their youtube monikers to get a drift of what angle they're coming from). I'm not going to post it here because I know some of my grandkids read my blog and what's there is not suitable for them.

In the video, a three and a half year old girl is being tutored in the Koran. She says "Jews are apes and pigs" and when asked who says so, she states "Koran."

Here in the USofA on a given Sunday, in any given Christian Sunday School, you'll find three and a half year old boys and girls singing "Jesus loves me" and memorizing "For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting."

And on any given Saturday, in Synagogues and Temples, little Jewish children are learning Moses' words in the Pentateuch "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole strength. And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thy heart: And thou shalt tell them to thy children, and thou shalt meditate upon them sitting in thy house, and walking on thy journey, sleeping and rising. And thou shalt bind them as a sign on thy hand, and they shall be and shall move between thy eyes. And thou shalt write them in the entry, and on the doors of thy house."

So you tell me . . . why is it not considered child abuse to teach a child Islamic hate-speech (hate speech being something that isn't true to incite hatred in another person)? (Now some are going to say that "the Bible is full of hate speech, too." Not quite. The Bible states that a certain action or deed is sinful, but does not tell the Jew or Christian to go out and behead anyone or kill anyone who defames God's Name. There in lies one of the vast differences between the two ideologies.)

Will You Delay Short-term Gratification for Your Country?

Martin Luther King, Jr

The legacy lives on, but not in black churches which want "reparations" and claim that their venomous vitriol is "prophecy" (trust me on this, it's not). Two things must occur for a prophet to be a Prophet of God: 1- prophecies must never be at odds with the Word of God as left to us in the Canon, and 2- every prophecy of a proclaimed prophet is always correct. If he speaks one false statement, the speaker brands himself as a false prophet. Or, black churches have turned to the "prosperity" gospel which states God blesses the faithful with wealth and spiritual power.

The prosperity gospel is winning in black churches. These churches claim to teach personal responsibility, motivating and equipping people to become prosperous. But where's the "community service?" Isn't there a vital part of living your faith missing from a "prosperity" gospel? There still are a few ministers who claim to be prophetic and a number of them do follow the words of Jesus to encourage their congregations to become social reformers and social activists. But where is Dr. MLKing Jr's message of non-violent confrontations for social justice?

The white congregations look on Dr. MLKing, Jr, as a religious hero. The black congregations are interested more in financial prosperity. And perhaps an independence which says "See, I don't need any white person's help." But why are you even seeing this in "white and black" at all. Are we not just human beings? Why is color so important to black church leaders? Don't throw the "our heritage" smoke screen. If we're all God's children, then, why are we not all one big happy family, without regard to color (at least)?

Here's MY OPINION and POINT of VIEW:
Where are those blacks when poor black neighborhoods are being overrun with black gang members? Why are the black church members not there to live and preach the gospel? Why are they not setting up seminars to teach self-help and self-management? Blacks want to attack whites (it's so easy to tell us apart, I guess, which is so much racist profiling as not to need a comment). It's always the white person's fault. Blacks are the victims of white suppression. Oh, really? Looks to me as if blacks are the victims of their own or other blacks' suppression. Black on black crime is higher than black on white crime. And while we're there . . . where are those black preachers when you need them? Are they marching through black neighborhoods and black public housing ghettos giving support to the blacks who must live there due to lack of education or jobs? No, they're sitting at home counting their big cars, diamond rings, and fancy houses in upscale communities. Is there something wrong with this picture?

How many blacks do you know who have volunteered to work with Habitat for Humanity? I mean just volunteering to work, without earning credit-hours toward their own Habitat House? When I worked on a house years ago, everyone except the woman and children who would later live in the house were true volunteers and every one of them was white. This was in Alabama, so it's not like there were no blacks around who could have volunteered.

I see Catholic Charities helping blacks more than I see any black organization helping blacks. And while we're at it, Catholic Charities is one of the highest ranking charity organizations. It's an urban legend. There was a Scot Professor, Lord Woodhouselee, Alexander Fraser Tytler who wrote two books: Universal History and Elements of General History, Ancient and Modern. Word search in Universal History has been done, and there's nothing relating to the progression from democracy to dictatorship. You're completely free to go to the National Archives and read both books for yourself, if you have the time.

The sequence listed in the email is:

1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage"

Africa on my mind

I can't tell you exactly why I have an interest in Africa, other than that Sister Leonella Sgorbati was shot three times in the back while standing in front of women's and children's hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. Why was she shot? Because Muslims world-wide intentionally took words quoted by Pope Benedict XVI while giving a lecture in Regensburg University in Germany to be the Pope's words. He prefaced his remarks carefully. Muslims will turn anything into a reason for violence. All I know is that slowly my heart has turned toward Africa. There's such a huge beautiful country with such history and heritage. And such enormous spiritual darkness due to Islam.

But it wasn't always like that. What Islam gave its adherents the ability to do was to act out their base perversions. There is no discipline in Islam. And we all know there is no forgiveness. Where Christianity teaches peace, Islam teaches war. Where Christianity teaches forgiveness, Islam teaches revenge and "honor" killing. Now there's an oxymoron: honor killing.

While Sister Leonella was heard forgiving the men who shot her in the back, hardline cleric Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Malin told worshippers at his mosque to hunt down and kill whoever offended the Prophet Mohammed.

Pray for the people of Africa. Pray for the Somalis, pray for the Zimbabweans.

Pray for the repose of the soul of Sister Leonella, Martyr.

Comparing HRC, BHO, and JSMcC

Hillary R Clinton= "I wanna be President; it's my turn now. It's my turn, it's not fair if someone else gets to be President when it's MY turn!"

Barack H Obama= "I said I was going to be President when I was registered at Besuki Primary School, in Jakarta, Indonesia, as Barry Soetoro, Muslim."

WHAT? We're "OWED?" WHAT?

Martin Luther King Junior's son, "the third" is lobbying for a Presidential Cabinet position to promote the "guaranteed right" of a "living wage." A Poverty Secretary?

Come on guys, get real. No one is GUARANTEED a living wage. Where did you get that idea? Oh, yes, SOCIALISM and MARXISM. Those "ISMS" again.

If one job doesn't pay the bills, get a second job. I have a friend who at one time in her life worked THREE part time jobs in order to pay all her bills. True her parents lived close by and could watch the youngest child (the other was grown and married). But the point is, she never felt that she was "guaranteed a living wage." She went out and EARNED it, with three part time jobs.

The problem in the USofA is that there are people long removed from forebears being brought to the USofA on "slave ships" who have been lied to by those who would keep them in poverty, that they are "owed" a living wage. No, dear, you EARN your own living wage.

And who decides what a "living wage" is? The US Government has a "poverty level" index, but I know people who earn less than that level for household size and who do not consider themselves poor. Why? Because they are ingenious. Because they are frugal. Because they do not accept some arbitrary number by the Federal Government.

But then, we have people who are blessed to live in the USofA who do. Arab Slave Traders in Kenya (related to Democrat Presidential Nominee Barack Hussein Obama, Jr) sold Africans (Negro Kenyans and other African Nationals) for transport to the USofA and other nearby island Nations (such as Jamaica in exchange for rum). This was all prior to 1861, so there are no living persons who once were brought to the USofA and sold as slaves.

So why the continued emphasis on "slavery?"

Well, for one thing, it's "easy" to "profile" someone whose forebears were "probably" slaves in America. ONLY because of our own racial prejudices! If you saw a huge black man standing in line at the grocery store, what is the subconscious revelation based on the stimulus? That the man is 1-of African (Negro) descent, and 2-that his parents or grandparents were once US slaves. Automatically. EVEN if you consider yourself an "African American." WHY? Because society has programmed us this way.

And this is what Barack Hussein Obama, Jr, is relying on. Not the truth about his 7/16ths Arab heritage, but his 1/16th African (Negro) heritage. He speaks as though he is ashamed to mention his 1/2 Caucasian/White heritage. He wrote of his mother that: He belatedly realizes that his very fair-skinned mother is sexually attracted to dark men. He pompously intones, "The emotions between the races could never be pure; even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart." And he learned that politically "white women respond to a charismatic black man."

My point here is that "the third" and "Junior" are still playing upon Black's subconscious "slave" mentality, while playing on White's subconscious "slavery" guilt even if neither Black nor White were or owned slaves and even if "Black" is less than 1/8th African Negro and legally an African-American.

Isn't it time to stop? Not as long as "the third" and "Junior" and "Jesse" can milk the guilt. If we, you and I and that big black man standing in line at the grocery store, would quit profiling each other and ourselves, then Martin Luther King, Junior's "dream" would be realized.

George Stephanopoulos tries to correct Obama when he says "my Muslim faith" but it wasn't a gaffe and Obama corrects Stephanopoulos. The Question is: Why say "MY Muslim faith" first? He went back to correct Stephanopoulos, but again "MY Muslim faith" was used. WHY?
