Never let it be said I'm not blonde

I went shopping on TAX FREE day in Georgia only to learn that it was NOT tax free day in North Carolina. Georgia, Alabama and Florida share the same weekend. NC tax free weekend is NEXT weekend.

I bought a Personal DVD Player and paid $20 in tax for it and some DVDs that I would not have had to spend had I purchased the DVD in Georgia. The drive to the closest Big Box in Georgia is approximately $10 in gasoline. The drive to the NC big box is less than $5. I was all up in arms about the money I'd spent, only to check the manufacturer of the Personal DVD Player I chose, and find out that I did indeed get a 'good deal' after all, even with the NC tax added.

So, yes, I'm blonde. If you're looking for misplaced posts, I've deleted them.

Greying, but blonde in my brain.

Sounds like the title to something.

Duh Blonde rides again.

Planning an AT Thru Hike, Scene Four

Scene Four? Must be. St. Joseph Bay Lighthouse, Florida. (Why? St. Joseph is the Saint of Families.)

Got a phone call this afternoon from "the boy's" psychologist at the locked facility. "They" have decided that "the boy" isn't working hard enough with their program and outside visitors are being told they cannot continue to visit. Of course, she says "the boy" doesn't know yet. So I asked her if she was ready for the consequences. Caught the psychologist off guard. What did I mean? I told her that if she takes his visitors away from him and squelches his spirit, all he'll have left is soul and body. And soul is so easily squelched (when there's no spirit to lift it up) and "the boy" might be driven to suicide. The woman obviously had not even considered that potential outcome of "their" decision. She tried to make it a decision made by the "treatment team" along with the DYS worker. Uh, huh.

The psychologist is a humanist. She's a Jehovah's Witness humanist who has tried to make obtaining his Bible a "reward" for doing things their way rather than a right of religious freedom in the USA. The DYS worker is also Jehovah's Witness and when I mentioned the Bible situation, he said that there should be "separation of Church and State" and no religious materials should be allowed in the facility. Of course my blood pressure went sky high and I told him he didn't understand what separation of Church and State means and that if a Muslim wanted a Koran or a Mormon a Book of Mormon, he should have it. It's freedom to worship in the way you wish. They've done everything they can to undermine "the boy's" faith and deny him access to his Church and a Priest.

Needless to say, I was in awe of the goodness of God in keeping my mouth working and allowing me to take control of the conversation -- I left the woman with some information she didn't know. I told her the child was an anomaly and explained how. I'm sure she only has a smattering of information about the child. I am fairly sure she'll start asking more questions to fill in the blanks of what she knows after what I told her.

I told the psychologist I would pray that God would intervene and that everyone involved would do what God wants and not what man wants.

WHY do people with a degree in psychology seem to need more counseling than the general public? Oh, she said I couldn't save "the boy" -- I failed to respond with "no, only Jesus Christ has that authority."

I was both shaking and wanting to jump a pew after the conversation. The power of God was evident.

I'm half expecting a call from the Psychiatrist tomorrow.

If you're the praying kind, please pray that God intervene in such a way that no one can dispute that it's God at work.

BACKSTORY The New York Review of Books November 16, 2000 The Russians Are Coming! Review By RAYMOND BONNER Red Mafiya: How the Russian Mob Has Invaded America / By Robert I. Friedman / 296 pages, $25.95 (hardcover) / Published by Little, Brown

Robert Friedman's book is the first to describe in detail the Russian mobsters who have established criminal enterprises throughout the world. His prose sometimes makes it sound like a sequel to Pulp Fiction. A Russian killer in Brooklyn murders a boy, he writes, "by picking him up like a ragdoll with one hand and plunging a knife into his heart with the other." But more than any other reporter he reveals how sophisticated, ruthless, rich, and multinational Russian criminals have become.

Among other things, he writes, they have arranged the sale of military helicopters and a submarine for the Colombia drug barons, and they have acquired influence over the American National Hockey League by threatening players from Eastern Europe and Russia and extorting money from them. They have infiltrated the international financial system, rigging share prices and buying banks in Hungary, Israel, and California. Now they are expanding into Nigeria, South Africa, and Australia

And you thought we 'only' had to worry about Islamo-Fascists? Think again.

Islam is a political ideology, not a religion

Islam is a political ideology. They are the ones who have made their religion political, not anyone else. They are the ones who make their governments revolve around their religion not the USofA, not any other Country. So if you attack their government it looks as if you attack Islam. But, since Islam has been the source of violence and insists on making violence in the world, then they are no longer a religion, but just another blood thirsty political regime.

Want to be anything but Muslim in the following Countries? Better be right with your God, because your life may be very short.

Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.

Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.

Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.

Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.

Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.

Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.

Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy.

So why is it that Muslims want to leave their closed society and come to freer Countries? Because they have been indoctrinated to believe that there will be No Peace until Every Country Has Converted to Islam. Muslims, by their suicide bombings, are trying to force every other society on earth to throw up their (collective) hands and convert to Islam.

This is not a good way to win friends or influence people to convert. And why should we convert? Our women will have to wear outfits that look hiddeous and our men will have to wear towels on their heads. Gone will be Daisy Duke shorts. And bubba ball caps.

While I'm at it, here's some self-portraits of hat wearers.

Rembrant, Van Gogh, Picasso.

Nah, I think I enjoy my Declaration of Independence, my Constitution of the United States and my Bill of Rights too much to give them up.

What about YOU?

CHAPPAQUIDDICK & Mary Jo Kopechne: 7/19/69

Peter Gualtieri, a Conservative living in Canada, who is a professional photographer, and was in New York on 9-11-01. Wrote this:

From Mary Jo Kopechne

I would have been 65 years of age this year. Read about me and my killer below.

When Sen. Ted Kennedy was merely just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past.

But now that he's become a leading Republican attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity, the days for such indulgence are now over.

It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why this chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980 - time to say the words Mary Jo Kopechne out loud.

As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how this "Conscience of the Democratic Party" left Miss Kopechne behind to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard that story, or details of how Kennedy swam to safety, then tried to get his cousin Joe Garghan to say he was behind the wheel.

Those young voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading Iraq war critic rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of.

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the ! US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

As they listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America to go to war in Iraq, young voters don't know about that notorious 1991 Easter weekend in Palm Beach, when Uncle Teddy rounded up his nephews for a night on the town, an evening that ended with one of them credibly accused of rape.

It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer "go along with the gag" when it! ! comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House.

And if the Republicans don't, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is.

The Democratic Party should be ashamed to have the national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman.

And the GOP needs to say so out loud.

Do you recognize . . . ?

Surfing the Internet today, I located a website that has kept me busy for a couple hours. I've been praying for about half that long as I viewed photos of missing children and adults. Click on the title and look at the missing from your State. Maybe YOU have had some gnawing questions about your past or maybe you know you are one of the people missing.

Don't hesitate to call -- whatever caused you to leave home is not important now. Find the nearest police department or sheriff's office and talk to someone there. Or call the number 1-800-843-5678 (1-800-THE-LOST).

It would make my day -- well more than a single day -- if someone who reads this blog were to discover someone who is missing and reunite that person with his or her family.

God Bless You!

A door closes and a door opens

Amazing how things turn out. I have a cousin nearby who I haven't had much contact wtih recently in part due to my other friend taking the majority of my non-working (non-vacationing) time. I called my cousin and we went driving towards the Nantahala Outdoor Center after a stop at my dogs' Veterinarian. She'd never been to the NOC. I had both dogs with me and Casey wanted to swim (which she did) while Crockett just looked handsome in his short 'buff' colored coat of hair.

My Cuz and I got to talking and we'll be seeing more of each other through the summer and hopefully into the future. We're close in age and only a few years ago found out that we're related. We have a lot of DNA and genetic memory in common. We're not like twins or like opposites, we're like "cousins" which we are. On some topics we're as opposite as we can be, but it's not the strained kind of opposite that a person sometimes is with a non-relative. It's an "okay" type of opposite. We're very comfortable with each other.

I wasn't looking for an answer to my prayers, but I believe the good Lord reminded me to return my cousins phone call today -- and a family relationship was rekindled.

Some information about how we're related is found here.

And some more great genealogy information is here.

I still miss my friend. And I have time for two friends or a friend and a cousin. If I ever hear from my (former?) friend again.

Losing a Friend (but not through death)

I lost a friend just before I left for a July 4th visit with family. No, my friend didn't die. I think sometimes it's easier to forgive someone for dying than to lose a living friend. Or at least not know if there's the possibility of reconciliation.

My friend's son "fell off the wagon" and returned to a life of lies and crimes after promising her, me, his children, that he'd never allow anything to come between him and his children. He promised a lot of things to the children. Then he turned around and broke the promises he made. And my friend, his mother, has made excuses for his lies and crimes. I don't know what she's decided as we haven't spoken, other than to say "hi." Maybe she's had time to think about the entire situation and see that excuses don't cut it. Tough Love may be an option.

I spoke to my daughter about the situation. Her comment was "note to self, do not tell mother if planning to commit a crime." Now there's a smart daughter. Both of my children know that if I knew first hand of their breaking any laws, I'd be calling "911" to report them. Not that they'd break the law. Or not break it because they fear me. They know what's profitable and what will cost them dearly. It's not "worth" it to commit a crime.

Maybe that's part of the problem today. For some people, breaking the law appears to be "worth" it. At least while they're traveling on the wave of adrenalin after committing a crime.

If you're a praying person, I'd appreciate a prayer or two for my friend and her grandchildren. Thanks! And if you have an extra prayer available, her son could use some prayers, too.

Barack Obama Says He Lacks Experience To Be U.S. President

And HERE he proves it.

Obama calls it "My Muslim Faith" and This Raises More Questions

George Stephanopoulos tries to correct Obama when he says "my Muslim faith" but it wasn't a gaffe and Obama corrects Stephanopoulos. The Question is: Why say "MY Muslim faith" first? He went back to correct Stephanopoulos, but again "MY Muslim faith" was used. WHY?

Obama is to the USofA as Castro was to Cuba!
