Shakedown Hike Lessons

Hiked about 78 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Southwest Virginia in July and learned a lot from my friend who helped me understand that "lighter and lighter" is "better and better."

I learned that there's a lot of 'stuff' even if you're carrying only 20-25 pounds including food and 48 ounces of water that you don't need.

I haven't weighed it all yet, but here's 'my' list.

Above in a waterproof silnylon compression sack (2 oz)

Prescription drugs for 3 months (in plastic bags) 3 ounces (includes nsaid for knees)

1/2 piece of moleskin (may need it for a pesky toe)
1 ounce of cotton squares/balls & 2 oz 91% alcohol (3 oz)
2 needles (one for putting down back in bag & sewing, one for blisters)
12 ft black polyester thread around a thick piece of paper for sewing

Obama calls it "My Muslim Faith" and This Raises More Questions

George Stephanopoulos tries to correct Obama when he says "my Muslim faith" but it wasn't a gaffe and Obama corrects Stephanopoulos. The Question is: Why say "MY Muslim faith" first? He went back to correct Stephanopoulos, but again "MY Muslim faith" was used. WHY?
