Had a great weekend with my son and family. Watched the Daytona 500 on television. Noticed that there are a lot of
NASCAR fans who don't fit the profile the media caters toward. The media doesn't spend much time with NASCAR, other than the announcers you'd expect to be knowledgeable, like Darrell Waltrip (Boogity, boogity, boogity). Thankfully FOX gives NASCAR air time and the other major outlets do so in smaller quantities because NASCAR really IS big business.
NASCAR fans are loyal. Even in the wake of reported anomolies (do we have to say "cheating?"), NASCAR fans support their favorite drivers. They also support the businesses who support NASCAR. Look at the advertisements on the vehicles and you'll see "middle America" at its best.
If you don't understand NASCAR, there's even
online instruction. My favorite driver didn't win, but I didn't come home empty handed, I brought home a head cold.
