Last day of September 2007
I actually purchased the Atlanta Journal and Constitution newspaper on Saturday, 29 September. I rarely purchase a newspaper as I read what I'm interested in online. However, I have a few comments to make from articles in the paper.
First, in the Metro section, there's an article about a student who was killed while driving to school on Friday. One statement by another student that struck me stated that the driver of the car (an 18 year old HS Senior) had just sent a text message to a friend stating she was running late for school. It makes me wonder if the teen had not been text messaging while driving, would the accident have occurred? Perhaps she was speeding and text messaging at the same time? The lesson for us all is: Pay attention to driving when you're driving and leave the multi-tasking for later, when you're not driving. I feel so sorry for her parents, the teen who was with her in the car (and was wearing a seat belt, thankfully) and all the students, faculty and family of her High School. What else can I say except "what a waste of talent and ability" and for what? I'd think being late for school was worth my own life, what about you?
Second, in the Living section, there's an article about the television show "Aliens in America." "CW" television station will carry this sit-com. It's supposed to be edgy and humorous. The "moral center" is the relationship between a male Muslim exchange student and the son of the host family. And the Islamic Center of Southern California liked it. What I see is that it's made to desensitize the viewers. You know the saying: If you say something over and over for a long time, even if it's a false statement, people will begin to believe it and believe that it's true. If the television show "Aliens in America" displays only the positive sides of a Muslim personality and doesn't show any of the negatives and doesn't explain what the Koran actually teaches about each situation in this "situation comedy" the viewers will have a skewed attitude about Muslims and Islam. (As in, "oh, it's not so bad.") What about the Truth about Islam? Be careful what you watch on television and what your family watches. It's too easy to become desensitized to the horrors of a theology such as Islam.
Third, if you're planning to donate some money to a political party or to someone who's running for POTUS, today is the last day of the quarter and might want to consider sending a donation online. My pick of course and the "savior of the earth" are linked. (BTW, if you'll Google these two words: draft gore, you'll find 1,950,000 English pages. There's a lot of grassroots voters who want him to run for POTUS in 2008.)
PS: I told you so!

Obama calls it "My Muslim Faith" and This Raises More Questions
George Stephanopoulos tries to correct Obama when he says "my Muslim faith" but it wasn't a gaffe and Obama corrects Stephanopoulos. The Question is: Why say "MY Muslim faith" first? He went back to correct Stephanopoulos, but again "MY Muslim faith" was used. WHY?
