S. 774 was introduced on March 6, 2007, and referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. This legislation would allow illegal aliens to receive post-secondary educational benefits from the state in which they reside. It would also adjust an illegal alien's status to permanent legal resident status as long as they entered the U.S. before their sixteenth birthday and have been in the country for at least 5 years. Should this legislation come before the Senate, I will not support it.

MIAMI -- Two brothers from Kendall who face deportation back to their native Columbia have been given more time to fight for a chance to a stay in the United States permanently.
Juan and Alex Gomez will be able to remain in the United States until March 2009 because of a private bill filed on their behalf by Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut. Dodd, who is running for president, supports the "DREAM Act," which would allow children of illegal immigrants who grew up in the United States to remain in the country legally by attending college or serving in the military.
Juan thanked Dodd saying, "this is a humanitarian act."
Juan, 18, and Alex, 19, are being threatened with deportation after their parents overstayed their tourist visa by 16 years and ignored a 2002 order to leave after losing an appeal.
The boys' parents, however, are still facing deportation.
~~~~~~~~~~~So the DREAM Act is still alive according to Senator Dodd? Why is a Connecticut Senator so involved in a Florida case?
This family knowingly stayed beyond their Tourist Visa. The children should NOT have even been allowed to register for school. They have used resources that rightfully belong to US Citizens. Will they now take scholarship and grant monies that should go to a US Citizen? Will they stay in a dormitory or student housing while a US Citizen is denied?
They may be "nice" people, but they lost their appeal to stay and they should have returned home in 2002. The Court should have deported them the minute they lost their appeal. What is wrong with people that they think the United States should babysit and raise every illegal alien who wants to stay here?
If Senator Dodd wants to help this family then they can come live with him and because he'll be harboring illegal aliens, he will then be breaking the law and will not be able to attempt to run for President, much less Senator.
I'm sending a copy of this email to Senator Dodd. I am livid. He has broken the law by encouraging illegal aliens to remain in the United States after they have been ordered to leave. It has nothing to do with anything but having the USofA be a Nation Of Laws.
This family should have returned home and applied for green cards. Rules, regulations and laws are made to be followed. Everyone follows the rules and everything works out. People who break the rules, regulations and laws should be prosecuted for what they are -- lawbreakers and criminals. It is a crime to enter the USofA illegally. It's not as if we do not have a legal procedure for people who want to come to the USofA. If we didn't have legal means to come here, and if this family was persecuted in their home Country, the situation would be different. But that's not the case. This family decided to break the law and failed to return home. They broke the law when they registered their children in public school where each child is supposed to have a valid United States birth certificate or a green card and a Social Security number. The school is at fault here, too.
And how has this family been supporting themselves? Is someone working? Where and how? They have no Social Security numbers! Who hired whom and why are the employers not being prosecuted for breaking the law? How did the employers report earnings and taxes?
Waaay too many laws broken for this family and for 12 to 21 Million other Illegal Aliens sucking the resources out of the United States.
Pass a private law and send this family back to their home now! A Judge has already ordered them home. These children do not qualify for anything that a US Citizen rightfully qualifies for, no matter how long they've lived in the USofA. They are still illegal aliens. They are fraudulent foreigners. They do not belong in the USofA and they have no right to use up resources that rightfully belong to US Citizens.
