Thankfully I do not own a television set. However, I do listen to FoxNews on my computer on occasion. The buzz yesterday was about "The View" (on ABC) with Barbara Walters, hostess. The group talked about Paul Newman and his wife, Joanne Woodward, Nancy Pelosi and her husband, and Faith Hill and her husband, Tim McGraw. Each of the women made "small" (and I mean that both ways) talk about who they would like to "do" (meaning have a sexual encounter) and all concluded they'd like to "do" Tim McGraw. Some, Whoopi Goldberg especially, talked of "doing" both Mr. Pelosi and Nancy Pelosi. On National Television. Daytime TV, the babysitter of the young and school children who stayed home "sick."
What are we teaching our children? Why is anyone even listening to such "trash talk?"
Are we teaching them that casual sexual encounters are okay? Are we teaching them that sexual encounters with the same gender or opposite gender are okay? If that were true, why is Idaho Senator Larry Craig in trouble? We have a double standard here, do we not? So, put Senator Larry Craig on "The View" and let's see if Whoopie Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters tell their audience they want to "do" him.
Why do you listen to the "trash talk" in the first place? Is your life so bland that you need that kind of "entertainment" to spice it up? Is your house spotless? Turn off the television and clean house with the radio blasting some classical music. Have you washed and folded all the clothes? Could your closet use a good cleaning? When was the last time you wrote a letter to a family member? There are thousands of things you could do that would be better than wasting your time with "The View."
And of course, "The View" isn't the only television tripe that fills your head with trash, so I'm not just talking about one television show.
Take stock of your life. Find your passion. Follow your passion and actively pursue it. And I'll bet you a Root Beer that your passion has nothing to do with watching "The View."
