Two Photos: One Freedom

Take a look at this photo. What do you see? This man was tried and convicted in Egypt (our ally?) for Internet-based journalism. He was charged with "inciting hatred of Islam" and insulting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on his blog. His name is Abdel Kareem Nabil Suleiman and he will be in jail for four years.

Take a look at this photo. What do you see? The man passing out small US Flags is Eric Odessit. He is not a natural-born American. He was born and raised in the Soviet Union, and emigrated to the United States in the late 1980s. He has since become a naturalized citizen and staged a one-man counter protest in San Diego recently.

Two men.
Two worlds away.
One is jailed for exercising freedom of speech on the Internet.
One hands out US Flags in counter-protest in San Diego.
Both men have a common bond: Freedom of Speech.
