Immigration and Welfare
Some people mistakenly think that immigrants are not eligible for welfare. Several years ago, Congress did attempt to render immigrants ineligible for most forms of welfare. However, subsequent backpedaling by Congress and the executive branch has undone most of those reforms. Furthermore, many immigrant families get welfare through the eligibility of their U.S. citizen children. (It is also important to realize that even when immigrants are ineligible for federal welfare programs, the burden of their support is simply shifted over to the state and local welfare agencies.)
Here's the real Christmas story of illegal invaders by Robert Ussery in the DesMoines Register.
Today, kingpins from Mexico sent their mules to the north, bearing 80 percent of its imports of cocaine, 50 percent of its imports of heroin and, in Iowa, bringing 80 percent of its meth.
The illegal invaders also bring with them leprosy, multiple-drug-resistant TB, Chagas disease, dengue fever, polio, malaria and intestinal parasites.

I direct your attention to the links on this page concerning the prosecution of two Border Patrol Agents and the immunity granted to an illegal alien drug smuggler for his testimony against those Border Patrol Agents. The facts of this case would have created a different conclusion had all the evidence been presented. The DA not only prosecuted men who are supposed to stop illegal alien drug smugglers, he also incorrectly used a Texas law to put those Border Patrol Agents in jail.
